so much to say, so little time

Sorry folks.  I haven’t been around much.  We have been enjoying life together.  I have so many things I want to blog about.  So many memories that the kids have made and I don’t want to forget about them.
Ruby trying to buckle her own straps.  Jack climbing on the chairs, table and into the bathtub.  Vincent picking wheat from teh backyard then pretending to be a miller who grinds said wheat into flour.  Kenniston and her love of praise and worship music.  Then there is Vincent again who loves to “cook” snacks and help out in the kitchen.  Oh yeah and I wanted to mention all of the fun we have been having with our friends Samantha and Brandon…of course I enjoy hanging out with thier mommy, Mrs Nicole.  And I have yet to mention our upcoming beach trip with Nana.  We have also spent a lot of time with Mamaw and Papaw.  I could go on and on, but those precious kids of mine are calling….will blog more later, and maybe even add some pictures…

Around these parts…we have been praying

for a little baby named Stellan.  If you have ever read our blog you have seen my request for your prayers for this sweet baby.  I have told the kids about the Mck Family as well.  They know who Stellan is and know that his heart does not work properly.  Just as anyone else we pray for in need, they know his needs and how to pray for him.

The other night as I put Kenniston to bed, I told her it was time to pray.  She, as many times in the past, requested to pray on her own first.  As she prayed this is what she said “Dear Heavenlly Father, I thank you for our day.  Thank you for our family and food and for all of our fun (this is typically how she starts).  Thank you for my baby Jack and my big brother Vincent.  Thank you for my mommy and daddy and Ruby.  Please make baby Stellans heart work better so he can come over and play with me.  Please keep my daddy safe.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen.”

Boy was I fighting back tears!!  Sometimes (ok most of the time) I wonder if she is listening to me.  She is at an age to where she just wants to do her own thing and forgo anything I am speaking of.  I want so badly to teach her, to guide her in an activity but all I hear is “I want to do it all by myself.”  When she asks about something I am doing or comes to me in question, I try so hard to not get excited that I have to contain myself.  I guess she really does listen to me.  She really is listening and apparently cares.

Here is our crew praying for Stellan while sporting orange for his family (orange is his mommy’s favorite color).  Kenniston really was praying at the time.  I told her that we wore orange to show other people that we were praying for baby Stellan, so what did she do?  Started praying, lol.

Oh how I love to look back…

I reread a blog post from 3 years ago today.  I remember so well writing this post.  I remember sitting in the very room I am sleeping in tonight being half asleep and yet so awake and alert.  I knew deep down that I would give birth to a baby girl later that day.  Yeah yeah, people have said that they knew their baby’s gender, but really I did.  Just like I knew Vincent’s and the twins. I did, but this post isn’t about them, it is about the sweet baby girl that I gave birth to 3 years ago today.  The baby girl that I held in my arms for 2 days in the hospital.  The baby girl that I stared at in disbelief.  Disbelief that I had a daughter.  A daughter, I have a daughter.  Wow, being a mom to a girl is truly awesome.  Having a little girl with a love for pink, glitter and dirt, that is way cool too.  Having a little girl who can belt out a made up song while holding a green Starbucks straw (all while standing in a bathroom stall at Jason’s Deli I might add), way cool.  That same little girl loves to hug (and perhaps wrestle) her baby brother and sister, though doing so with her brother seems to be favored.  Jumping, hoping over cracks in the sidewalks, laughing, playing princess Memory games also seem to be on her favorite list.    She is an easy form of entertainment most days.  We know that we have hit the *ahem* interesting threes.  At times our sweet little three year old can be a fiesty temper tantrum throwing spit fire.  After a quick trip to her calm down area and a deep breath she is back to her sweet compliant ways…ok, for the most part.  Either way, we love her dearly and will keep her around.  Besides, who else will entertain us with her “ballalet?  Who else would claim that “I Could Sing of Your Love Forever,” “Holy Holy Holy,” and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” were their songs?  She is our Kenniston Elaine and we are so very blessed to have her as part of our family!

And Cue the music

I could almost hear Rocky playing in the background…

She wanted so badly to do the Bunny Hop game as well

So I put her in the bag and told her “all you have to do is hop to the line and back…”

I lined her up next to the big kids.  She was the littlest one out there.

And hop she did, in her pretty dress that Nana bought for her.

Next to her big brother, who was just as excited to race.

All the way

To the very end

Where we all (and by all I mean most of the crowd, strangers and all) cheered her on

We were so proud of her!

Live music.
Friendly People.
Blue skies.

But, there are people back in Washington that I miss and can’t wait to see again.  Remember this from just 2 years ago?  Two of you might…

Two of you are pregnant, actually…one of you were pregnant in this picture!  lol  I can’t wait to see you again soon!  Rub those bellies for me!

Wow, what a small world

I have mentioned this a few times, but I love MOPS.  I try to share this wonderful group with any mommy I meet.  In fact, on a message board of mommies whose kiddos were born in April 2006, I suggested joining MOPS.  Well, one of those mommies, “H,” joined a MOPS group near her home and messaged me to tell me how much she enjoyed it.

Fast forward a few weeks.  Off and on I have requested on my blog and other places that people pray for Stellan and his family.  I have recieved many comments (on Facebook) and emails from other people that have started following this family {and praying for them} after hearing about them from me.

Today I recieved an email from “H.” “H” said that at her MOPS they were asked to pray for a baby and his Mommy that go to her MOPS.  This baby’s name was Stellan.  Yeah, I still have the chills.  She told me that she had followed MckMama’s blog and prayed for them since I mentioned it a while back.  Wow.  How amazing that this little boys prayers have gone in a circle like that!  What a small world.  I am so glad that people out there are praying for this family.  Thanks y’all keep those prayers going!

Twofer Tuesday

While it might look like it…my kids are not doing some sort of ancient chinese stick fighting.

They are actually helping the babies learn to balance and walk…

In the past, as a nanny, I have taught babies/infants to walk using a light weight stick.  I hold on to the stick, as does the baby and walk around with them.  Eventually the baby gains confidence in their own balance and I let go of the stick.  The baby sees that they can stand on their own and they eventually walk.  I had all but forgotten about this method until just reccently.  I was talking about this idea to my mom who shared with Papa Scott (my step-dad).  He went right to work to help the cause…

The next day I found this “walking stick” laying on the coffee table waiting for some little fingers to grasp it!  The big kids were excited to help out right away.  We headed outside and tried it out.  Jack loved it!  So much that he stood on his own several times and took steps on his own.  Ruby took a few steps, then decided it wasn’t fer her.  She pushed the stick away repeatedly, so I did not try any more.  This hasn’t detered her from walking though, she took a few steps again today.
